Brompton Hook History

Don't get us started on Brompton hooks - life used to be so easy!

But first ... some history

In the beginning - there was only one - the Brompton hook (or QHOOKA - hook assembly) which held the front wheel in place when the bike is folded

The original one was attached to the front mudguard stay (or if there are no mudguards to a special wire form)

If it was knocked out of position, the design allowed it to be bent back

The two parts are:

• QHOOKA / Q100021 - Brompton front axle nylon hook comes with fittings (Brompton hook ID: 02)
• QHOOKWFA-E / Q101271 - Brompton front hook for E version and C version (Brompton hook ID: 01) - used on A Line and C Line bikes with no mudguards

This was the case from the beginning of Brompton time until ...

In 2019? came the original Brompton Electric (front wheel motor) with a new (stronger) plastic hook

The part code for this is:

• QE-HOOK / Q101071

In 2023 the T Line came along - and had a new hook to hook the new carbon forks onto the new advance rear triangle - then there were two (and they started to multiply)

The new T line hook was called Q102679, it is now Q104368

There was also the G Line - at least the G Line and G Line electric use the same hook!

The part code for the G Line electric is:

• Q103698

Then the Brompton electric MK2 - the eMotiq and to confuse us all a little more they do not all use the same hook! these use:

• C line e-Motiq - Q101271
• P line e-Motiq - Q103145 
• T line e-Motiq - the same as the T line - Q104368

And so many hooks that Brompton actually started calling them Hook 01, Hook 02 etc ... which made it even harder to identify (at least the fact they are called 01, 02 etc and not 1, 2 etc lets us know that there could be up to 99!)

So hopefully this can be the definitive list to Brompton Front Hooks!
