Brompton roller wheels
Brompton rollers, Eazy Wheels and roller spare parts allow the wheeling of your Brompton about when folded
All Brompton come with roller wheels on the rear and the standard ones have been improved over time
Where are these roller wheels (we're talking C Line and older here)
- There are two on the rear frame just by the seatpost - these use a 6mm bolt and are known as forward roller wheels
- If you have mudguards but no rack there is a single one on the mudguard
- If you have a very old rack it has 2 roller wheels with 5mm holes
- If you have a newer rack it has 2 roller wheels with 6mm holes and are known as aft roller wheels
Some roller wheel history
Older Bromptons had cone shaped forward roller wheels - which broke if treated too harshly - partly to protect the frame from bending. These have now been replaced with more robust wheels, which are also slightly narrower - reducing the risk of heat-stroke or catching your ankles on them
Eazy Wheels
Eazy wheels (why not easy wheels?) facilitate easier rolling of the Brompton when folded - turning your expensive bike into an awesome shopping trolley (especially welcomed in Waitrose). They have a slightly larger diameter than the standard roller wheels and bearings to help them roll even better
Advance roller wheels
These were introduced with the P Line and T Line - but are compatible with previous model Brompton folding bikes - they have a slightly larger diameter but no bearings
