Brompton Brake Cables
To keep the fold of the Brompton optimal, different models of Brompton use different length brake cables - and of course the spec (or length) is different for front or rear brake
Which cable?
This depends upon the following:
The short wheelbase version of the Brompton was discontinued approx 2004 - and the cables for these are sometimes un-available as separate items. The short wheelbase was approx 3 cm shorter than the long wheelbase - so by using the long wheelbase rear brake cable you will just have a bit of extra slack - but it will work just fine
Current Brompton model ranges are:
- A Line / B75
- C Line / C Line Electric / older model Brompton folding bikes
- P Line / P Line Electric
- T Line
What you will need to know is - handlebar type:
- Mid rise - previously known as M type
- Low rise - previously known as S type
- High rise - previously known as H type
- P type (now discontinued)
You will also need to know if you have standard / UK setup or EU setup:
- UK / Standard / Moto setup - the front brake lever is on the right hand side and the rear brake lever is on the left hand side
- EU / USA setup - the front brake lever is on the left hand side and the read brake lever is on the right hand side
A lot of people don't know there is a difference!
Below are the possible options:
