Brompton models / history

In the beginning, back in 1975 - there was the Brompton - the folding bike with compact 16 inch wheels.

This was then renamed the C Line - for Core

Then along came the superlight - with titanium forks and rear triangle to save weight - due to supply issues / shortages with the supply of the titanium parts - these were in short supply

The superlight "C Line" then morphed into the P Line - Performance Line - which used an all new titanium rear triangle (this would become the rear ene design for all future 16 inch models) as well as a lot of new components and the introduction of a 4-speed derailleur system

From the design changes with the P Line came the T Line - all Titanium frame, so light that we still aren't ready for it each time we pick one up

2024 - G Line - the "large" wheel Brompton

In the autumn of 2024, Brompton released the G Line - aimed at Brompton riders who wanted more than just a commuter bike - the larger wheels and higher volume tyres make it more suitable for gentle off road riding such as canal paths and bridleways, but with the ability to still fold up small for easy transportation

2025 - The C Line gets a new rear end

Following on from the P Line and the T Line which used a new advanced rear triangle, the C Line also received this change (but in steel instead of titanium)

This meant that the C Line changed from a choice of 2-speed or 6-speed to a choice of 4-speed or 12-speed

2026 - The P Line Mk2 is launched - with a new front end more like the T Line, new headset, new handlebars and new carbon forks

Let's see what the future brings
