Brompton 3/6-speed BWR 16 inch wheel - Black / silver 

Black wide ratio 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub, silver spokes and black rim (exclusing braking surfaces)

Normally this wheel is used as part of the Brompton 6 speed wide ratio setup, but based upon your selection of sprocket set, this wheel can be used as either 3 speed or 6 speed

What's in the box?

The Brompton BLACK / silver edition BWR rear wheel contains the following:

  • Sturmey Archer / Brompton wide ratio (BWR) 28 hole rear wheel with double walled rim - black hub and rim (except braking surface)
  • Rim tape - yellow for double walled rim (QRIMTAPE-DW)
  • Gear indicator chain (QGICH-SA[2]) for alloy shell hub
  • Fixings (nuts and washers)

16-inch (ETRTO 349) double wall rim - QRIM-28-AGL-BK

  • Black with silver braking surface
  • Angled spoke holes
  • 8mm valve hole

3/6-speed BWR (Brompton Wide Ratio / Sturmey Archer hub)

9-spline Shimano style driver - accepts 2 sprockets

Gear indicator chain: Sturmey Archer MK II - QGICH-SA[2] / HSA126

28 spokes (silver) - QSPOK-146-SB-13G

  • 146mm long 
  • Single butted
  • 13 gauge

Lacing: 2-cross

Valve hole to suit 8mm Schrader / car type valve inner tube such as Schwalbe AV4

If using the wheel for a Brompton 6-Speed, you also require a derailleur setup

At the end of 2024, Brompton changed the spokes used on stock C line bikes to silver from all black, in 2025, this wheel became available as a spare, the new code is as follows:
