Brompton C Line 12-speed Mid - 1975 Edition

To celebrate the fact that Brompton folding bicycles have been handmade in London since 1975 - 50 years ago - Brompton have released this limited edition (a run of 1975 bikes) to celebrate

16 inch wheel size Bompton folding bike with 12-speeds and classic Brompton mid-rise handlebars

This is based on the new 12-speed version of the C Line Explore that was introduced in 2025

Gearing wise it uses 4 derailleur gears combined with 3 internal hub gears - which give 12-speeds in total


Brompton C Line Explore Mid - 1975 edition specification:

1. Frame

All steel:

  • Steel Main frame and stem
  • Steel forks
  • Steel advance rear triangle introduced in 2025
  • 1975 edition serial plate

Folded size: 585mm wide x 565mm tall by 270mm deep

2. Colour
  • Main frame: Thermal fade finish
  • Handlebar stem: Thermal fade finish
  • Forks: Disco silver
  • Rear Triangle: Disco silver
  • ColourLab touchpoints: Gold

Decal: Brompton 50 logo and monogram details
Detailing: Black

12 speeds in total combining the 4 speed advance Brompton derailleur system with a 3 speed hub gear system

50T front chainring - 1975 edition gold anodised cranks
106 link Brompton advance chain with connecting link
Folding left hand pedal - black
Non-removable right hand pedal - black
4 rear rear sprockets 
Integrated 4-speed gear shifter on left side of bars - black - for derailleur
Integrated 3-speed gear shifter on right side of bars - black - for hub gears

5. Front luggage system

The C line comes with the front carrier block fitted so you can easily add Brompton luggage to make transporting your stuff easier without affecting the ride 

6. Mudguards / Rack

This bike comes with black advance mudguards
No rack / roller frame is included - though it can be retro-fitted / added at an extra cost

7. Roller wheels

New advance roller wheels help keep the bike stable when folded 

8. Wheels / Tyres

Classic 16 inch (ETRTO 349) Brompton size wheels with double wall rim 

Black Hub / rim (the braking surface is still silver) with silver spokes

  • 28 spokes  on the rear
  • 28 spokes on the front
  • Bolt through hubs

Continental contact urban tyres - creme wall
Low rolling resistance and good puncture protection 

Schrader / car type 8mm valve 

9. Saddle

Special Brompton 50th Monogram Saddle

The Brompton saddle is attached to the seat post using an adjustable Brompton Pentaclip - black

10. Seatpost / Seat height

Standard seatpost for riders with an inside leg measurement of up to 33 inches - colour: black

Note: If you are a taller rider - up to 35 inch inside leg - then an extended length seatpost can be fitted at no extra cost at time of ordering - just let us know

For very tall riders a telescopic seatpost is available at extra cost 

Saddle height insert is included - we recommend you fit that after riding the bike for a while

11. Suspension

Along with the new advance rear triangle comes a new advance suspension block

12. Lighting / reflectors / accessories

Front and rear reflectors are included

It's easy to retrofit battery lighting (at an extra cost) such as

  • Brompton Spanning solo rear light
  • Brompton CatEye 500lm front light
  • Brompton Be Seen light set

The bike comes with some special luggage:

  • 50th Monogram Bottle Holder - to follow 
  • 50th Monogram Small zip case - to follow
