What are the Brompton changes for the C Line for 2027
Brompton traditionally release their new models and changes in the autumn
The C Line is the core range of bikes (what used to be a Brompton before the arrival of the A Line, P Line, T Line and most recently the G Line models)
Brompton have said that for the 2027 model year they want to have a consolidation year - instead of launching anything new - they will try and simplify
Colours:
There are just 4 colours available for the C Line in 2027
The frame colour and extremities (forks / stem / rear triangle) colour will be the same - so no more mixing and matching
- Matt Black
- Plum Red
- Racing Green
- Lunar Ice
The Racing Green has been a popular colour coming into and out of the colour range for years
The Lunar Ice colour is a premium finish (that means it costs more) and was previously available on P Line models

No more mixing and matching of colours as with the above bike!
Which colours disappeared that were available in 2026?
- Dune Sand
- Palm Green
- Amethyst Lacquer (premium finish)
- Cloud Metallic
Transmission (and rack):
The C Line keeps the spider crankset (as opposed to the new shorter crank length crankset introduced with the P Line version 2)
It is available in two gearing options:
- 4-speed, using the Brompton derailleur system
- 12-speed, using a combination of the 4-speed derailleur and a 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub
The 4-speed has a 54T front chainring
The 12-speed models come with a 50T chainring
Neither of these gearing options can be changed from the factory as an option (but we will change between the two - or to a 44T chainring - free of charge on new bikes)
You may be asking why this section is "Transmission (and rack)", well ....
Previously when configuring a C Line you had a choice on all models to have the bike with a rack or without, this is no longer the case
For 2027, all 4-speed C Line bikes will come with no rack (and no factory option to fit one) and all 12-speed C Lines will come with a rack
This is part of the simplification of models - similar to the G Line where all bikes now come with mudguards and rack
Handlebars and seatpost
The C Line is still available in the three standard styles:
- Low (or S type / straight / sports bars)
- Mid (the traditional Brompton M type bars)
- High (for a more upright / relaxed riding style - previously known as H type)
but
The seatpost length will be tied into the handlebar style
Previously the seatpost was configurable - and described like this:
- Standard - for riders up to 33 inch inside leg
- Extended - 6cm longer - for riders up to 35 inch inside leg
- Telescopic - for extra tall riders
Now the seatpost length will be dependent upon the handlebar style:
- Low bars will come with a standard seatpost length
- Mid bars will come with a standard seatpost length
- High bars will come with an extended seatpost length
Note: If you are very tall don't worry ... the telescopic seatpost is still available - just not from the factory (it can be exchanged if you buy your bike from us for the difference in price - it will be a bit extra - over the standard / extended seatpost)
Lighting
All C Line bikes from the factory will come fitted with reflectors (battery / dynamo option is no longer an option - though of course can be fitted later)
Tyres
All C Line bikes from the factory will come fitted with Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres - these are the new version with revised Schwalbe branding - as with the lighting these can be changed later (in fact if you buy a C Line from us want to change from these to Continental Contact Urban wired tyres - our favourite - we'll make this change free of charge upon request
Saddle
All C Line bikes now come with the Brompton Standard Saddle (147mm wide) - with no option to change to the wider saddle (Brompton have removed the option of the popular wider 167mm saddle and it is no longer listed as an after market option) or a Brooks saddle
C Line changes for 2027 in summary:
Brompton are on a mission to reduce the number of parts that they hold in stock - and even to make Core bikes a "standard"
So the number of C Line models now totals just 24
Gearing Options (2) x Colours (4) x Handlebar Options (3) = 24
