Brompton hubs, gears, derailleur and gear cables

So Bromptons come with a choice of gearing options: 

• Single speed - you won't need any gear cables as you don't have any gears
• 2-speed - uses Brompton's own derailleur system - discontinued in 2025
• 3-speed - uses internal hub gearing, provided by Sturmey Archer (and previously also SRAM/Sachs) 
• 4-speed - introduced with the T Line and P Line - saving weight by moving from an internally geared hub
• 6-speed - Combines the two speed and the three speed to give six speed :)
• 12-speed - Combines the 4-speed derailleur with a 3-speed internally geared hub to give 12 gears in total
